White Sage and Palo Santo

Updated: Dec 21, 2021

White Sage (Salvia apiana) is a perennial plant of the Lamiaceae family. Coming from North America, it has its importance in the Amerindian tradition.

This hardy sub-shrub retains its leaves all year round, requires good sun exposure and well-drained soil.

This is not a game! it must be done seriously!

Otherwise it will have the opposite effect !!

Take a container to put it down (Ormeau shell)

Ventilate the place by opening doors and windows

Light your smudge or leaves, once braised blow to extinguish the flame

Define your intention in each room, Example "I purify this room of all impurities, negativity, ....." it's up to you to compose it with the desired ritual.

Before and after always say the prayers of "our Father" & "Hail Mary" and thank them at the end.

Encense every nook and cranny of the room, walls, around windows, ceiling, imagine the smoke adsorbing the negative, the problems, the toxicity of whatever you want to see go away, observe the smoke purified and imagine its past energies coming out of your space to be replaced by new energies.

Wash yourself with the steaming sage as you take a shower and visualize the negative coming out of your body, home and gone into oblivion

Put out the smudge or leaves by patting it down and then bury it in your garden.

The palo santo ("sacred wood" in Spanish) or Bulnesia sarmientoi is a tree of the Zygophyllaceae family.

This tree lives in the South American region of Gran Chaco (north of Argentina), Paraguay, Peru, Bolivia and in the Brazilian Mato Grosso.

Use :

This pleasantly scented wood has calming properties. It is also used as an incense.

As it burns itself up, the Palo Santo produces a smoke that is supposed to cleanse and purify the atmosphere against evil spirits, energies and negative forces. Palo santo is used by healers and shamans in ayahuasca ceremonies, and during certain rituals.
